Visual file picker

Preview images in the file picker are rather tiny, often too tiny to select a particular image out of rather similar images. It would be great if we could have a file picker with larger (or even configurable) image sizes like the one custom one seen in the LOWA video.

Supporting our regular cards and cardlets would be sufficient?

Yes, using cards or cardlets as a basis would definitely be a huge improvement (was planning to set something up based on that), although we have some other improvement suggestions for the files picker here, e.g. #332, #55.

Any progress here? Or any other resource I could look into?

Choosing an image from the tiny preview images is really difficult especially for images that are visually similiar it’s more a trail and error experience.

This is one of the really early questions/ requests i get for new Kirby sites. So leaving a comment to get more attention here : )

I ran into this issue as well. It really should be configurable, at the very least. At first, I thought maybe I was missing something as a newbie, but no—this is definitely a feature that needs to be added. For example, in Craft CMS, you can choose between a list layout and a cards layout, which makes a huge difference.
